Sussex Community-Led Housing Hub Launch Events – November / December 2017

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our launch events in Herstmonceux and Steyning.

We can confirm that 174 people attended, with 86% finding the event Excellent or Very Good.

Among the many positive comments we received were: “It met all my expectations”, “had no idea what to expect – this went beyond”, “very very inspiring”, “great event”, “excellent presentations, but also networking!”, “fantastic attendance, great enthusiasm, excellent organisation”, “this event was exciting and helpful”

Attendees expressed interest in the different forms of community led housing as follows:

Community Land Trusts – 71%

Cohousing – 50%

Self build – 46%

Cooperative housing – 42%

Feedback from the events clearly identified the need for more support in all the keys areas:

  • Getting started
  • Business planning
  • Funding
  • Development
  • Governance
  • Communication

Some 91% of the attendees expressed interest in attending another local community led housing event – which we have duly noted! Consequently, we are actively seeking further opportunities across Sussex over the coming year.

We are now busy following up a number of contacts and working with more than a dozen existing groups at various stages in the development process. Further news on the progress of the various groups will be published here from time to time.

If any groups or individuals have not yet contacted us following the launch events we would welcome a discussion with you.
